Free Art Extravaganza...

Hello everyone!

Hope this finds you doing well! It is time for me to free up some art space, so I am giving a few pieces I have made away, in order to do it! I have some new things in the works and need to hang them soon.

Here is how this will work. Each piece has a number assigned to it. If you like it and want to see it hanging in your house, all you need to do is send me an email telling me which one you want and give me your address. If you live close to me, then we can meet somewhere for coffee and I will hand it over to you.

Easy right? Can't make it any simpler... I don't think?

Shall we get started??

#1- Rose Madder

 #2- Mermaid

#3- Shiny and Dull

#4- Lines

#5-  Swirled Experiment

#6- Orange and Blue

#7- Epoxy Shine

#8- Not Sure What To Call It

These are the 8 I have right now. I may have a few more in a couple of weeks. Anything not taken will be donated. If you have a charity or non-profit interested in putting obtaining a piece of art, please contact me and we can discuss it in greater detail.

If you want one of these, email me at ward.carleh@gmail.com.

This is a first request, first honored type of deal and will only go through next Friday, November 25th. All work will be mailed out by December 1st.

And away we go...

Friendly House LA

Hello Again!

I wanted to take a minute and share a video with you! This is where the "Sober" piece is going... to Friendly House LA, and I could not be happier that some small thing I have made might raise a buck or two for them.

Russell Brand was on the new Rosie show on OWN and much to my surprise he visited the house. I was really glad to see him do so, because this non-profit is one worth the publicity.

For me personally, the nice thing about seeing this segment was I saw someone I know. She looks fabulous and healthier than I have ever seen her and for that I am forever grateful to Peggy and the wonderful people who helped her.

It is one thing to hear about a great program, hear from someone who has gone through the program, but something better to actually see the results in someone's eyes when they are in a program that works. Having known one of the people in the segment for a long time and seeing her struggle with addiction, it was amazing to see the difference in her eyes this time.

If you can, take a minute to go check out Friendly House LA and read for yourself the wonderful work they do and ways you can help! If you suffer from addiction, please go here and read about getting help, it is so worth living your life to the fullest!

I am hoping the art sells well and I can find out how much the fundraiser was able to bring in for this amazing place of hope! I will of course keep you posted with an update if and when I find out!

Please go click the links and check them out more fully! Remember, I am like Santa with my Stat Counter and know where you have been and where you go from my site... so don't disappoint me!!

Sober...

Hey there!
I know it has been awhile, but I have been in my studio creating, so there is a good excuse. But, my exciting news is that I have a piece of art going out to CA for auction. It is going out there without me, but you can't win them all!

The organization is Friendly House LA and I can't think of a better place for this piece to do some good. They have their annual awards luncheon, where Russell Brand will be honored with "Man of the Year!"
"Founded in 1951, Friendly House LA is the oldest women’s recovery living home in the US, providing a safe harbor for women suffering from the destruction of alcoholism and drug abuse, and has earned a world renowned reputation as the model for sober living."
This cause is one dear to my heart, because I have had several good friends and family members fight with addiction. Some of them won the battle and have been living in sobriety for years, while others fight daily to maintain their sobriety.

I love that this organization offers women a safe harbor, and I know it works. I am honored to donate the art, in the hopes it will be auctioned off and raise money for their continued good work. I am also pretty thrilled something I created will be in the same room as Russell Brand...

Anyway, that is the update, and now it is back to work for me.

Wax & Expanding Foam

Hey there!

I am playing with stuff around the house and felt the need to share. These are works in progress, so don't judge them until I am done.

Did You Notice Anything New?

Hey Friends!

Yes, I am updating the page! I am trying to set my personal brand for the page and my art, so I have been playing all day long.

In case you missed it, here are some of the things I changed, along with a couple of things I am working towards adding in the next few days.

This is the wax seal I use on all on my art. It is a simple "W" and it is blended in with the art, by using colors found in the art smeared over the seal. I also sign my pieces in various ways, as I have not come up with one way I am happy with and until I do, this is it!

I have also added a slide show of some of the art and will add more photos of other pieces as I have time. You can find it under the "Art" tab on your right.

I am exploring more art blogs and will beef up my blog roll as I find inspiration out in the world.

I will be setting up shop soon, in case anyone wants to hang one of these art atrocities somewhere. I think some of them would make great gag gifts for relatives like really, really distant cousins, or maybe even a boss that hasn't given you a raise in 10 years!. Instead of a "fruitcake" you can get them the gift that will surely be re-gifted, time and time again!

I am working on professional photos of the artwork and will be putting together a portfolio and business cards in the upcoming weeks. I have a couple of opportunities coming me way and I need to get serious about going after them and actively trying to make these things more successful.

I may have a booth at some of the craft shows coming up, not sure yet if I am ready to take that leap!

So, until next time, cruise around the site, check out the blogs I have listed and wait patiently for the next things to come along!

"Real Women"

Hello there everyone!

I am going to be shaking some things up around here really soon, with a new design and some professional photos of the artwork, along with a link for purchasing art that might strike your fancy.

I am trying to prepare for a show at the end of the month and am cranking out art left and right. More soon on that adventure. So, not a great deal of time to blog, but wanted to share some home grown pics of the current piece.

It also looks like the "Sober" piece is finally going to make it to CA at the end of September or early October for a charity auction. I am really excited about this particular charity and hope the piece sells and pray it sells well.

Until next time... enjoy!

I have these old, outdated CPR manikins just sitting in my art space. I decided to play around and see what I can create with them. I am calling the series "Talking Heads."

Here are the first two!

I may leave them all "untitled" and see how I feel about them at the end. Let me know what you think!

So That Is Where I Left My Marbles?

Hello?

Remember me?

No?

Well, I can't say that I blame you... it has indeed been awhile and you have things to do, people to see, places to go!

I have no excuse other than "Life has been busy and I have had little time for art!" But, I did have a little time to create a new piece and I am typing this while I wait for the video to load and as soon as it does I will embed it here for you to see... at the moment it is at 25% completed, so what shall we talk about while we wait?

I guess I could give you a little look at what to expect from the video, wouldn't that be nice of me?

What do you think?

It is an altered box. I picked up this little box from Goodwill for about $4 and drilled and cut out shapes on the lid and then went to work on it. I may add a couple small things to the inside of the door, but maybe not.

I still need to sign it and then it will be ready to enter into a contest. I will putting this one up for sale in the next few weeks, so if you are interested in it, please leave me a comment and I will get back to you to discuss a price.

Now here is the video!

Let me know what you think...

New stuff.

I have been up to my ears with other things to do besides art, so please forgive my long absence. I am trying to get things to settle down and arranged so I will have more time to get my art together.

In the meantime, here is a little something I threw together last night. I put together a set of 4 coasters using Citra Geograhic paper as the background. I like them, and plan on playing around with some other elements to come up with something for an art show in the Spring.

Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you back soon!
